What is a vertical roller mill?
Vertical roller mill, also known as a vertical mill, is an advanced grinding equipment; it is an efficient equipment that integrates fine crushing, drying, grinding, and conveying.
Vertical roller mills are mainly used for grinding materials such as cement raw materials, cement clinker, steel slag, and coal slag.
What materials can be ground by a vertical roller mill?
Vertical roller mills are used to grind limestone, clay, raw materials, slag, nickel slag, manganese slag, cement, blast furnace slag, GGBS powder, fly ash coal, etc.
It can also be used to process various metal ores, such as iron ore, copper ore, etc., to provide qualified raw materials for the smelting process.

Process flow of vertical roller mill
1. Crushing and conveying: The block material is first crushed to a certain size by a jaw crusher (powdered or fine-grained materials can skip this step). Then, the bucket elevator conveys the material vertically to the storage hopper.
2. Grinding and crushing: The material is crushed by the grinding roller in the annular groove on the grinding disc. The crushed material continues to move to the edge of the grinding disc until it is carried away by the airflow at the wind ring. Large particles fall onto the grinding disc and continue to be crushed.
3. Collecting products: The fine powder is collected by the system's dust collector (such as a cyclone dust collector or a bag dust collector), which is the product ground by the vertical mill. For materials with high moisture content, hot air is introduced into the mill, and the wet materials are fully exposed to the hot air flow during the grinding, powder selection, and flow process and are dried to meet the product moisture requirements.
4. External circulation system: For granular materials that are not carried away by the airflow, they overflow the grinding disc return to the mill feed port through the external circulation bucket elevator, and enter the mill for re-grinding together with the newly fed raw materials.
